London Paul: Don't buy the South China Sea war hype, China could wreck the U.S. economy overnight but doesn't want to do that. 1. The phone call from Trump to Poroshenko reveals that Trump is very ignorant of what is the problem in Ukraine. Trump apparently thinks that the issue is only about the border between Ukraine and Russia. Really, Wow! Has he not been aware during the last three years that there is a war between the Kiev Nazi junta and the Russian speaking provinces of Donetsk and Lugansk.

Regarding Trump’s hostility to China and Iran, two close countries to Russia, I sincerely hope that V and London Paul are correct in their analysis but I have my doubts. We may be pleasantly surprised or we may be horrified at what the Trump Administration will do in the world. I can’t allow myself to get excited about Trump like you guys and Alex Jones until I see the proof in the next few months. I don’t want to be set up for disappointment. Man I’m sitting on the fence in this one.

    1. Gary,

An alternative interpretation of Trump pointing to a border issue between Ukraine and Russia is that his Administration is recognizing the breakaway republics not de jure but de facto. Which in fact the Minsk Agreements, by forcing Kiev to negotiate with representatives of Donetsk and Lugansk, did — though Kiev does everything possible to violate and repudiate the agreement they were forced by a series of humiliating military defeats to accept. The text in full is available to be read here, you will note that it is on Moscow’s terms in the sense that full control of the Russian-Ukrainian border is only restored to Kiev AFTER it fulfills all other conditions including permitting free and fair elections under Ukrainian law with international observers unobstructed by military forces of any party. Kiev of course has never agreed to that and whined that it wants control of the border first, but that’s not the order of the deal:
